Blended Earth and Compost

You want to make a new garden bed, but you don't have any earth. This is what you need!

Your garden earth profile is determined by texture, structure, nutrition and pH.
Texture affects the rate at which water flows through the soil and how easily plants are able to take up nutrients.

The structure should be "friable" or crumbly, and well drained and well aerated. Air and water move efficiently within the spaces so the plant roots can penetrate the soil easily.
